ABOUT THE EMBER EVENT
This is a community event for 8th-grade & Freshman girls (2020-2021 school year) held at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Nixa, Missouri. Throughout the day the girls will come and learn all about their relationship with themselves, others and God. There will be four different speakers along with small group time, activities, games, pampering, and so much more!
WHAT TO EXPECT
Each girl will spend the day participating in activities with a group of their peers. When students register they can request a friend to be in their group. The students will be guided by a high school and college mentor. Each girl will be provided lunch and dinner. There will be water and snacks provided throughout the day of course!
We will be teaching biblical truths, and helping these girls create friendships as they transition into high school!
WHAT TO BRING
Please bring anything you will need for the day (medication, clothing, etc.) The girls will be provided with a t-shirt and a journal. The students will not have their phones on them throughout the day. Phones and other items will be kept in a locked room where the girls can access them if needed!
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Q: WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
A: A few of our activities will require some physical movement and there is a chance we will be outside for lunch if the weather is nice! We recommend wearing comfortable clothes suitable for physical activity (leggings, shorts, or jeans). A t-shirt will be provided when students arrive!
Q: WHAT IF I HAVE ALLERGIES?
A: Let us know on your registration form if you need special accommodations and we can make that happen!
Q: DO I HAVE TO STAY ALL DAY?
A: Although we would love for you to experience the entire event, we understand you are a busy gal! Feel free to have a parent pick you up at any time if you have prior commitments and can only come for part of the day!
Q: I'VE NEVER BEEN TO ALDERSGATE, WHERE DO I GO WHEN I ARRIVE?
A: We will begin the day in our main sanctuary. Go to the building with the sign that says Worship Center.
Q: AS A PARENT, WHAT ACTIVITIES WILL MY DAUGHTER BE DOING, AND WHAT WILL SHE BE TAUGHT THROUGHOUT THE DAY?
A: We like to keep this event as much of a surprise for the girls as possible! Please call or email, and we would be happy to talk to you about the schedule, activities, and speakers!
